Second Class
Gaeilge
Úsaidimid an teanga Gaeilge gach lá i gníomhaíochtaí éisteachta, labhartha, léitheoireachta agus scríbhneoireachta. Bíonn an spóirt againn ag imirt cluichí, ag léamh dánta agus ag déanamh drámaíocht. Is aobhinn linn an cluiche ‘Deir ó Grádaigh’ agus ag labhairt faoi na cláracha teilifíse is fearr linn.
English
Every Wednesday we visit the school library and borrow a book for the week. We love books about facts but Captain Underpants is definitely our favourite. In class we are starting to read Jill’s New Rollerblades and listen to The Twits by Roald Dahl. Stephanie also comes in during the week to help us with our reading. We practice our writing every week and love writing funny stories.
Maths
We are working very hard at our addition sums at the moment and have just finished learning about fractions and shapes. We also had fun measuring lots of different objects including our pencils and tables. Our classroom is 13 metres long. We will be learning about the time and weight very soon.
SESE
We have learned a lot of myths and legends. Our favourite is the story of Setanta and how he got the name Cúchulainn. We have learned where our drinking water comes from and learned lots of facts about India. We also do some very messy science experiments like mixing paint.
Music
We really in enjoy music in Second Class and love performing and song singing. We are introduced to lots of different types of music and instruments. We are busy practicing songs for our First Holy Communion at the moment.
Art
We explore loads of different art materials and create some magnificent pieces in school. We enjoy painting, drawing, printing, using clay and fabric and fibre. We did some brilliant portraits of each other! We also looked at work by Van Gogh and learned about complimentary colours.
P.E.
We partake in many activities in P.E, we are doing a number of games at the moment. We were sad to finish swimming but it isn’t too bad because we’ve just started to play rugby and we go hurling every week with Michael.
Now Enrolling for Junior Infants
We are now enrolling new Junior Infants for September. Please contact the office to find out more about our Open Day.
Thank you to the Parents' Association
"A big thank you to our Parents' Association" from all the boys and staff for their support to us over the last year. We have been able to get a number of projects off the ground as a result of their contribution. With the proceeds of their fundraising projects, we now have a brand new stage; guitars, keyboards and recorders for our music lessons. They also funded the design of this website which was designed by a past pupil of ours, William Hayes.
